I being aloft jumped overboard and got hold of the Junk's rudder where I remained for two or three hours during the time the ship was being plundered. Several musket shots were fired at me during the time I was in the water. When I found the pirates were about to leave the ship I swam back and ascended the rigging to the main top.
They again followed me when I told them I had a Revolver and threatened to shoot them - this had the effect of driving them away in about 10 minutes. Afterwards when leaving the ship they threw the 3 Ammunition Guns overboard and spiked the 2 broadside guns on the forecastle - carried off all my clothing, some nautical Instruments, Charts and a quantity of provisions belonging to the ship and myself.
On examination it was ascertained that I had received no injury - after they had left the ship I found they had carried off live sextants - Chronometer - Telescope, glasses, Stand of small arms - and all the ammunition.
They were bold and said that if we returned to Hong Kong they would kill us - this was about an hour after they had left the ship. The Junk fired another Gun at a great distance, not near enough to do any damage.
